Tamekia Swint, MBA

Founder & Executive Director

"I’m passionate about ensuring kids have the tools they need for healthy self-esteem and confidence.”

Tamekia Swint is the Founder and Executive Director of Styles 4 Kidz (S4K), a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering transracial adoptive, foster, kinship, and biracial families through textured hair care education, cultural connection, and confidence-building experiences. Since founding the organization in 2010, Tamekia has grown S4K from serving just three families in Illinois to impacting thousands of children and caregivers across the United States.

Her vision for Styles 4 Kidz was born during a mission trip to Poland, where she taught a hair braiding class and felt called to combine her passion for children and hair care into a meaningful mission. Shortly thereafter, she began working with transracial adoptive families who were seeking guidance and support in caring for their children's textured hair. Recognizing a widespread need, Tamekia created a safe, welcoming space where families could learn practical hair care skills while helping children develop confidence, cultural pride, and a positive sense of identity.

Tamekia holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from National Louis University and is a Licensed Hair Braider and Licensed Hair Braiding Teacher in Illinois. She also serves as Vice President of the Natural Hair Professionals Coalition Board, where she advocates for advancing career opportunities for natural hair professionals industry-wide.

In addition to her role as Founder and Executive Director, Tamekia serves as a Local Board Member and National Board Secretary for Styles 4 Kidz, helping to guide the organization's governance, strategic growth, and national expansion. Her passion for natural hair, particularly as it relates to children and families served by the S4K mission, continues to inspire innovative programs, partnerships, and opportunities that help children feel seen, valued, and celebrated.

Through her leadership, Tamekia is building bridges between cultures and communities while ensuring that every child has the opportunity to wear their crown with confidence.
